Wall Out Of Alien Vegetation
At Hotel Verde, the use of alien vegetation, specifically wood from invasive species, for building a wall is considered sustainable for several reasons. Alien vegetation, when unmanaged, can damage local ecosystems by consuming large amounts of water, displacing native plants, and reducing biodiversity. By harvesting this invasive wood and repurposing it as a building material, Hotel Verde helps mitigate the ecological harm caused by these species.
Using this wood in construction also reduces the demand for new, non-renewable building materials, lowering the environmental impact associated with sourcing and producing them. This process, known as upcycling, turns an environmental problem into a sustainable solution by making good use of materials that would otherwise require costly removal and disposal. In essence, the hotel is contributing to ecosystem restoration while promoting resource efficiency, aligning with its green ethos.
